I reconciled all my transactions up til 8/16/03 because that was the
start of my checking statement. My account is at 0, but the only
discrepancy it see's is that the starting balance was different. I
can finish reconcilation without correcting the balance, or
automatically adjust the accounts starting balance (adjustment 23.66
for leisure) Which do you recommend I do?

If your balance in the register mismatches the true balance, you
will need to make an appropriate adjusting deposit or withdrawal. I
would date it some time in the unknown period. Add a note to the
memo field that you are adjusting to compensate for the missing
statement. Then you could follow my method.

It is not the only way. It is a convenient way to get things
reconciled and ready for normal balancing in the future. You still
need to have the correct balance first.

I am sure my bank reported correct balance.
Should I follow the steps in the other post on reconciling it?

Previously, I balanced, and it found 200 dollars (because past 2
statements were missing) unaccounted for when balancing the 9/15
statement, and called it bank charges, and set my account in the hole,
when it should be in the positive.

BoDEAN, Are you satisfied that the bank has reported your correct balance? If
you are, then just reconcile Money as was suggested. If you are not sure the
bank is correct and you know you did not receive your prior bank statement from
the bank, I would suggest you go to your bank and talk with the manager to see
if he/she can give you the missing information you need. Good luck. Steve

So if I have my statement 9/15 on me....then what I should do is find
anything prior to the statement activities....(The statement period is
8/16 - 9/15) take anything prior to 8/16 and balance that and
reconcile it?

The procedure to do that is described below?

If you wish to start fresh and declare an account balanced, you can
mark all entries balanced. Select to show only unreconciled
transactions. Sort by date, and go to the oldest transaction.
Hold down Cntl+Shift+M and let auto-repeat work thru the
transactions until none are left showing. Then balance making the
starting and ending balance match the known balance. Choose the
balance date to be the day after your last transaction. This is
not the normal procedure.

Thereafter, follow the normal procedure.

Default Balancing Question

As posted before, I never got my July/August statement from my bank.
I know my statement is up to date, and when I tried to balance it with
september, it left me with 200 bucks in bank charges as a descrepency
because the starting/ending balance was different.

My bank charges me 5.00 for each statement I need because they don't
offer it on their webpage. My question is this: Do I have any other
option to fix my account/balancing problem besides paying 10 dollars
for old statements? Would reinstalling money and starting a new money
file with just my September purchases/withdrawls, and balancing for my
first time with that, solve this issue?

Please assist. Thanks
