Everything is stored in one file. All you need to do is transfer that
file, which will have an extension of ".mny". There are several
options.

If you can connect the old and new computers on a network, simply
transfer the data across the network (e.g., ftp).

You can email yourself a message using the old system with the
file attached and receive the email on the new system.

If your old system has a CD burner, you can copy the file to the
CD, reload it on the new system (and then remove the read only
attribute).

You can back up the data base to floppy (it will probably take
more than one) on the old system using the Money File-> Backup feature.
On the new system, after you install Money, use File-> Restore.

You can use winzip or pkzip on the old system to zip the file
unto multiple floppies and unzip on the new system.

For the same localization, newer versions of Money have been designed to
upgrade data files from all previous versions. Some people have had problems
with data logical integrity in older files cause upgrade problems to newer
versions. Most have not.

Default Moving Money Files

This is probably a very simple question, however..

My father uses Money 99 Standard and soon will be moving
to a new computer. My question is, how can he transfer
all of his accounts, bills, etc. information? Is this
stored in one file? How do I transfer it?

Also, if that is possible, will later versions of Money
(2000 & up) be able to open that information even if it
came from 99 version?

Thanks,
Matt
