I also believe is something other than a security issue too. It may> currently use. I wonder if that's the real primary motive. (Call me > cynical.) (Unfortunately they didn't seem to have OFX working correctly > previously as many times transactions were omitted in the downloads.) be so that they won't have to track versions of Money or Quicken. They may not even have to provide different OFX files for Money or Quicken. On the bright side, if it does not work it will be easier to identify where the problem lies. They may also implement a date range for specifying which transactions you want. That may be important initially, I think, to avoid duplicate transactions during the transition. But making that selection will be *another* chore. |

One-way means downloads but > not uploads. you have to login to ING's site and download files manually into Money. I didn't quote the entire email before, but here's the section that follows what I quoted previously: "How does the change affect me? By switching to a one-way channel, you will be required to login to our website and answer a challenge question before downloading transactions into Quicken and Microsoft Money. This will help prevent unauthorized access into your account. Currently, the OFX server two-way channel does not allow for this additional piece of validation." They're presenting this as a more secure method than Quicken and Money currently use. I wonder if that's the real primary motive. (Call me cynical.) This will definitely make it much less convenient to use their service. (Unfortunately they didn't seem to have OFX working correctly previously as many times transactions were omitted in the downloads.) Tony |

That is not what your quote is saying. One-way means downloads but> download transactions with Money? > Today I received an email which said "Beginning October 15, 2003, ING DIRECT > will be switching from two-way Open Financial Exchange (OFX) Web Connect to > one-way OFX/QFX Web Connect. | Did others get email from ING Direct about their changing the ability to download transactions with Money? Today I received an email which said "Beginning October 15, 2003, ING DIRECT will be switching from two-way Open Financial Exchange (OFX) Web Connect to one-way OFX/QFX Web Connect. Why? The answer is security. ING DIRECT is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of your personal and financial information." So, one can no longer automatically download transactions through their service. They point to security as being the rationale for this. I'm not aware of any significant security concerns with OFX. Can anyone shed any light on this? Tony |
