| There are two ways you can handle this. One way is not to use transfers. The other way is to set up Suspense accounts. I have set up "Suspense Account Banks" and "Suspense Account Credit Cards." I transfer a payment to the appropriate suspense account when I write the check. I make a transfer from the appropriate suspense account when the transaction is completed. I do not use this method to track the "float", although this is a by product of the method. Over the years I have found it desirable to start a new money file from scratch using QIF imports. This can easily turn into a real nightmare if you make a lot of transfers among accounts. The suspense account method makes my life easier. | Money requires that you have a single date for a transfer between 2 accounts. However, in reality, this is often not the case. For example, when I pay my credit card bill online, the credit card company uses the date I entered the info online (e.g., 10/1/2003). However, the money might not actually be withdrawn from my checking account for a few days (e.g., 10/6/2003). So, from my credit card statement's point of view, the transfer occured on 10/1. However, from my checking statement's point of view, the transfer occured on 10/6. Money simply uses whichever date was input last, so it always appears that the transfer occured on 10/6 for both the credit card and the checking account within Money. Any way to fix this, or get the feature added in future versions? |
