Trending and budgeting are examples. I recommend you make two backup copies of your data file on CDs. Keep one at your house, and store the other one offsite, perhaps at work or at your bank. That way you're covered if something catastrophic happens to your house. Keep adding data to the same file, year by year. No one has yet given me any good reasons to delete old data. Usually they want to make the file smaller to speed Money up, but small files aren't noticeably faster than big ones. Tell us what you're trying to accomplish. Maybe someone will have another recommendation for you. -- Steve Bell New Life Home Improvement Arlington, TX USA |

| It can't be done at all easily. Your best bet is to open a COPY of your "2008" file and delete what you don't want. File|Archive is one way to (sort of) do this with limitations and caveats. The biggest caveat is that NONE of this is a practice many of the regulars here would recommend or advise. I've got all Money data I've ever collected back to 1993 in the one file I use to this day. | In Money 2006 with XP2000, I have a file named 2008 with 2 accounts (bank and credit card). I want to close that file at the end of 2008 and start another one to which I want to transrerr the same accounts on the first of 2009 for the upcoming year. Can that be done, and how? I would appreciate suggestions, and wish you all the best of the holidays and of what promises to be an interesting new year. T. |
