| You don't NEED to retain any of them. Keeping sufficient backups to get sufficiently far back to recover from a problem you don't see immediately. By the number of filenames you cite, I suspect that these are not all useful. I'd sort them by date and get rid of any that are more than, say, six months old. You need to backup your data in proportion to its importance to you. Also be sure to have backup paths that protect against any one failure--computer, media, file format (Money has been known to make useless .MBFs under certain circumstances where the .MNY file remains usable). But you can get entirely too carried away. To wit: I have Money set to keep ten of the numbered files it manages by itself and these are on a share on my Windows Home Server (WHS). (Among other things. I also do a weekly back to floppy and a nightly rotating backup (seven instances) of the .MNY file to the WHS share and have WHS full machine backups managing these with monthly granularity thirteen months deep. It's also synced to offline files on my laptop. Doubly just in case, I copy the .MNY file itself to a backup on both the desktop and on the WHS machine every three months or so. I can get back three years or so this way. At least once a year I try to take six or eight DVDs off the the safe deposit box with backups of my most critical data--the Money file being at the top of that list. I REALLY don't want to lose my Money data.
