Default Re: Cash flow...trended vs. recurring bill

Here's how I do things.

We use Discover for virtually everything that will accept it, including
groceries and dining out. (And the phone and the wireless bills and Sat Tv
and so on.) I manage cash flow for my core checking account into and out of
which all cash flows. I have the Discover payment scheduled as the average
of the prior 12 payments--each of which paid the entire balance then due.
This gets the cash flow impact of all of these expenses in the FCF. Since a
year ago we ALSO used Discover for virtually everything that will accept it,
including groceries and dining out, this tends to work out. The transfer to
Discover that FCF picks up from Bills tends to be reasonably predictive. It
works as you were suggesting: it amounts to getting an approximate amount
for what I will spend in Bills.

Now, if the one account I used for all my expenses was also the one account
I was using to manage to cash flow, this would be a bigger issue for me.

There is also the r-click Remove Amount Based on Trends from the forecast
transactions. You might play with it as well. You can also r-click Assign it
to a different account from there as well. Maybe either of these might help.
I was pretty sure they were in there somewhere but had no reference copy to
test it on when I replied earlier today.

Dick, so for things like groceries and dining out you schedule bills with an
approximate amount you think you will spend?

There may be a better way, but I basically concluded that I could let FCF use
trends or I could schedule bills. I picked the latter and turned off trended
item in FCF.

Default Cash flow...trended vs. recurring bill

In my cash flow there is a trended item for phone/wireless but it also shows
my recurring phone/wireless bill therefore basically doubling that expense.
How do I fix this? Thanks.
