As Bob said, you would need a version from the original country. If
your Money 2002 is working, stick with that.

This usually means that you are trying to open a .mny file produced in one
region with a copy of Money from another region. i.e. you can't open a copy
of a UK file with a US version of Money.

Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade from Money 2002 to 2004, but I keep getting a message
that my 2002 file was created in an incompatible version. I haven't got the
2002 disks to run anymore, so I really need to be able to convert the file to
2004.
Any suggestions, please?

Many thanks,

Derek

When you File-> Restore, do not use the "default location". Instead
Browse to your Documents folder, and choose a new filename.

You have to let Money go find it's own updates. Recommended method is to
navigate to sample.mny, double click on the file name which will fire up
Money and it should then go find any updates.

Note you don't have to restore a backup but copy your .mny file - usually
MyMoney.mny - to the new PC - use a memory stick.

Default Problem restoring back up file on Money 2004

I had a problem with my PC and have had to reinstall my version of Money on a
new PC. When I went to restore backup of data file I got the message "The
File name is invalid. Please use a valid file name". the back up file name is
"john1 current.mny". which is the extension that money would have given this
file. I Had this problem before and a work colleague sorted by dowloading an
update to my original restored software. ....Any ideas what this might have
been ?
