That would be in the same folder as your *.mny file(s).You could search all of your drives for "*.m1?" files as well as "*.mny,*.mbf" files. I don't find it likely you will discover a file that will make it better, but it is worth a search. I wish I had a better plan or prognosis for you. I can only imagine how this feels. - quote - > I back up my file to the USB drive and it has the same issue. I've only got > one passport. |

| I apologize for my last entry. This file is getting making me very mad. I was unable to find a .m12 file although I'm not really sure where to look. I back up my file to the USB drive and it has the same issue. I've only got one passport. It doesn't. I had not finished what I had been writing regardingyour problem. You did not have a problem that was easy to deal with. Yours may be insurmountable. I did add some to what I had started, and posted it. |

Your latest backup file had that problem. Did you maybe have an> backing up the file as always. A few minutes later I realized I forgot to > update some infomation. What do > I do? additional backup file (*.mbf) on other media? You could try disconnecting from the internet, and then try using one of existing files. If you had more than one LiveID/Passport that you might have used, try that. This might help if you had somehow changed your password or if there is a problem reaching the server. Unlikely tho. When Money Plus converted your Money 2004 file, it left a *.m12 file. Copy that file to hope.mny, and use File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2 to see if you can make a repaired version of that file. Then try to open that repaired file. I wish you luck. It doesn't look good. On the plus side going forward, Money Plus keeps your latest 4 upon-exit backup files on your hard drive by default. You can change that number. Having a lot of unused space on my hard drive, I chose a bigger number. Similarly, you can set number of scheduled backups that are made too. I suggest the scheduled backups be made to a USB flash drive. Even better would be to alternate flash drives. |

Any ideas. > also it is imposable to read the letters that are requested to be typed in > for a new pasword. that your *.mny or *.mbf file is from a newer version than Money 2002. You need a version (from the same country) that is at least as new as was in use when the file was created. If in the US, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919524/en-us gives you a link to a Money 2004 trial that can be used to help convert to Money Plus, or to identify what version you actually were using -- assuming it was no older than Money 2004. The backup file that a later version makes when converting an older file is named according to the version being converted: *.m16 2007 *.m15 2006 *.m14 2005 *.m12 2004 *.m11 2003 *.m10 2002 *.mn9 2001 *.mn8 2000 *.mn7 99 *.mn6 98 *.mn5 97 |

| I was updating my accounts in microsoft money 2004. I closed the application, backing up the file as always. A few minutes later I realized I forgot to update some infomation. When I tried to return to my file it requested my password, like always, however my hotmail e-mail was not already entered like it whould have been, instead the text field was blank. I entered the e-mail and password and a password incorrect message appeared. I didn't change the password though. I then tried to run from my backup file with the same error. I upgraded to mirosoft money plus deluxe trial. I get the same error message when I try to use my live passport or just try to log in to money directly. I open an old money file and my sam3e passport works with that file but I don't need that one I need the one that wont recgonize my password anymore. What do I do? |
