Recurring bills are for scheduling future payments, not for tracking past
payments. You can track your money from any date you want, but you have to
enter all the past transactions individually. I'm not aware of any way to
use Bill Summary to help retroactively enter old data. If your bank or other
financial institution supports transaction downloads, either directly into
Money or from their website, that can bring in old data more easily than
typing it all in. Many institutions support a year or so of old
transactions.

I'm surely missing your issue, but you can create a bill based on any
transaction by r-click, Add to Bills.

If your issues is that the Bills Calendar doesn't show past payments as part
of the scheduled series, I'm not sure what you think is lost by this. The
display on Bills Calendar and the ability to project future amounts based on
the last n are the only places this association is ever used. Likely as not,
neither of these are a big loss for most purposes.

If this doesn't address your issue, please clarify your expectation when you
say you "can't link any of those transactions to [your] Bill Summary
recurring payments".

Default Bill summary can't link to past payments!

I just started using MS money and have added my bank account. I can see my
old payments listed in my Account register but can't link any of those
transactions to my Bill Summary recurring payments. When I create a
recurring bill it just tries to make a new transaction that does not reflect
or link to previous payments. What am I missing here? Can I only track my
money from the day I installed MS money forward??? Should I not be able to
create a recurring bill based on my old banking data that was imported?
