GEMB support is worse than poor. I went through the steps with them to set up online access and it worked exactly once - at the setup. Thereafter, I was unable to log in using the same info I used at setup. This is likely the same problem MS Money has with accessing the account. When calling back about the problem, their answer was to create another online account. Again, it worked only once. Called back, they said to create another account. I could *not* get them to understand that I wanted to be able to log in again and again on the *same* account and *not* create a new account each time. Their view seems to be that, as long as I can eventually log in by creating a new account, all is well. I had also written for help from MS. Surprisingly enough I got a quick reply back with steps to isolate the problem. However, it appears to be a GEMB problem, not a Money one. I'm hoping MS can perhaps lean on GEMB to allow future linkage. |

Some store credit cards I have are issued by GEMB, but you can link them to CheckFree for automatic bill pay, and download all the transactions from a central location. | This is in Money Plus Premium. I'm trying to link to a PayPal Plus credit card that is offered through GE Money. This account is automatically linked to my GE Money account via a link in my PayPal account, so I know linking is possible. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to make sure I had shown all the steps I'd already taken. In Money I set up the credit card account by choosing the PayPal Buyer Credit. Is that correct? Or should I be using one of the GE accounts? If so, which one? When I went to input my user ID and password, Money wouldn't take the user ID, because it was too long. This was my PayPal email address. Hey, I didn't choose to use an email address. That's the way PayPal has it set up. So I changed my email address to a shorter one that would fit into Money. Problem fixed or so I thought. I got an error: Tools, Internet Update, Read Call Summary Messages. "Your sign in doesn't match the bank's records." OK, so I called PayPal. Easier to say than actually do. But eventually I got a hold of a live person. They said to call GE. Called GE. They said to change my options in my online account. Went to change my User ID and PW and got a message saying that it couldn't be done online. You had to call the same number I had just spoken to. (arghhh) Called back and they said I needed to create a new account. I did. Still didn't work. Called back. They said to call PayPal. Called Paypal. Had a difficult time getting across the idea that this wasn't about logging in to *Paypal,* but logging in to the link with the Paypal credit card. Spent over an hour getting transferred from one department to another and finally someone said I needed to be bumped up and he transferred my call. I was back at the basic GE phone tree once again. (screaming) Tried again later and finally got someone at Paypal who actually understood my question. He was able to verify what my actual log in info was. Went to Money and plugged the user ID and PW in. Got the same message: "Your sign in doesn't match the bank's records." I don't know what else to do now. I do want this account to be linked to Money, as the PayPal Plus credit card has a great new feature. Like the Discover card, you can generate one time use credit card numbers for buying online which have a limited expiration date. Since I'm a recent victim of ID theft, I got the card for this sole purpose. And since, I'm checking my accounts a lot more often now, I really would like to do it in one place - Money. Can anyone help me? |
