| When you lay down the plastic you are incurring the expense. The rest, except for any interest billed to the card, is just cash flow. If you spend $10,000 on the card and make a $1,000 payment and earn $1,000, that does NOT mean you are not spending more than your income. Avoiding this kind of mental trap is why we recommend using Money as it is designed and recognizing the expenses vs. income (a budget problem) as a separate problem from sending money to the credit card company (a cash flow problem). | I'm trying to track my income and expense for the month. When I lay down the plastic, I'm encurring debt. I want the credit payment to show on the income/expense reports to show if I'm spending more than my income. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > In microsoft.public.money, Tom Hill wrote: > > How do I get my credit card payments to show as an > > expense on the 'Income/Expense Report'? > First let me say that what you ask for is not a good idea. First let me say that what you ask for is not a good idea. Read the> expense on the 'Income/Expense Report'? help item "Learn why you should track a credit card as an account and not as a bill." But if you want to consider it an expense when you pay the credit card but not an expense when you lay down the plastic, enter the payment using a category of your own creation such as "Credit Card Expense". Don't track the individual purchases with the credit card. |
