| Steve, I am using IE7 for my access to the forum. When Cal responded to my question I received an email notification, but I did not receive any notification when you responded. | Cal, I know the normal way for a money market fund would be to sell and move the money but that is not what I did. I actually transferred the money market fund. As far as the cost basis, I tried it again and have the same problem. When I look in the portfolio view there is no cost basis for the money market fund and the column for appreciation shows the entire value of the transfer (I did not have the money market fund in that account before the transfer). As an experiment, I transferred all od the money market shares from the one account into the second account and had the same issue. From your headers, it looks like you were using some page on the> me of replies but I did not get any notifications even though > responses were posted. If the "notify" box works at all, it would most likely work only for responses from people who were using the same web site. Your message went to (potentially) thousands of Usenet servers all over the world. Almost none of the people who read it do so at the Microsoft web site. Anyone with a chance of helping you uses a program called a "newsreader". You won't see any responses from any of those people. (Can you see this response?) I use the /Xananews/ newsreader, and I used to use /XNews/. Both of them are free. /Outlook Express/, also free, is a newsreader, but it's not as good. Summary: If you want to see responses to your posts, you have to do one of: * Search the Microsoft web page over and over. Hope all the responses get loaded there. * Install and use a newsreader. -- Steve Bell New Life Home Improvement Arlington, TX |

It may not be obvious tho. It is a little obscure. That is not the way that it is normally handled for a MMF. The normal way for a money market fund is to Sell the shares of the MMF, transfer the cash from the CashTransactions register, and then to buy the MMF in the receiving account. - quote - > PS: The last time I posted a question I cjhecked the box to notify me of > replies but I did not get any notifications even though responses were > posted. | I transferred some stock from 1 account to another. The transfer was only part of the shares of that stock that I own in the original account. The stock is a money market fund so therefore all of the shares were bought for $1.00 per share. When I enetered the transfer in Money Plus H&B, the cost basis for the shares in the new account was $0.00 (no transfer of cost basis). Is there a way to do a transfer and have the cost basis be correct? I know that I can make it correct by doing a add shares and remove shares but that is not really the way I would like to do it. PS: The last time I posted a question I cjhecked the box to notify me of replies but I did not get any notifications even though responses were posted. Is the forum having a problem or do I have to check any settings (I double checked my spam filter). |
