I have a "Wallet" account that keeps track of all cash I spend.> it a completely independent account? All ATM withdrawals I put as simple transfers from bank account to the "wallet" account. Then I track my spending from the wallet account - so it goes to the correct category, matches my budget etc. -- /\ /\ [ Jakub 'Kocureq' Anderwald ] /\ /\ =^;^= [ [nick][at][nick].com ] =^;^= / | [ GG# 1365999 ICQ# 31547220 ] | \ (___(|_|_| [ kocureq[at]jabber.org ] |_|_|)___) |

A second method is to enter splits in the ATM withdrawal transaction.> withdrawal to that. You can then debit gas, dining and groceries to > the "Cash account". The splits have to add up to the total of the transaction. Both methods are good. It's a personal preference issue, so your preference wins. -- Steve Bell New Life Home Improvement Arlington, TX |

| Hi, all. I'm trying to setup the budgeting in an old version of Money (2003). I want to use Money to track both my accounts and budget, but separately. The budget uses transactions in the accounts for tracking, but those don't really reflect what happens in the account. EG: if I withdraw $100 in cash from an ATM, it would show up as $100 cash withdrawal in the accounts. Then I use that cash to buy $25 groceries, $50 dining out, and $20 gas. If I put those transactions is so budget can see them, they will show up as $195 total ($100 from the ATM + $95 in assorted transactions). I need the budgeting tool to use the account information, but not modify it: I want to enter the budgeting transactions separately from account transactions. How do I do that? Thanks.. |
