They would be in the same folder as your *.mny file. You could
search your computer for "*.m??" files.

Thank you
I have changed the clock and regional settings from Canadian to US and
rebooted and still no luck with Money 2004 Trial - I could not find any of
the extensions you mentioned for the back ups - where would they be?

That usually means that the file is from a different country than
the Money version. That Money 2004 trial is from the US. However
Canada/US is a special situation. I think the way it works is that
North American Money takes its key from the regional settings.

What I am going to suggest is that with the Money 2004 trial
installed, changed your regional settings to Canada to US or vice
versa. Set your date back again. Maybe reboot. See if you can open a
copy of your old file. If that succeeds, I don't know what you would
want to do from there. You might not want to keep your regional
settings set to the wrong area. If this method does not succeed, you
might want to re-try it with the Money 2005 trial. I don't think it
would work differently in this regard, but I am not sure.

Here is another thing you want to be aware of: when Money tries to
convert an older file, it makes a backup of the old version with a
filename with an extension determined by the original:

*.m17 2008 plus
*.m16 2007
*.m15 2006
*.m14 2005
*.m12 2004
*.m11 2003
*.m10 2002
*.mn9 2001
*.mn8 2000
*.mn7 99
*.mn6 98

You may want to copy an earlier backup file to a new name to see if
that improves any attempt.

The incompatible version message means that you are using Money from region
A to try and open a Money File from region B.

Money is very heavily localised and you cannot, for example, open a UK file
in a US version.

I can't remember what the 2004 message was and I can't seem to find again
the website that gave me a temporary version of it - if you know of it I can
download it again and then tell you exactly what it says - it's quite
lengthy

When you get such a message, it is good to note the actual message
verbatim.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919524/en-us or
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913108/en-us may have been the web
page you were referring to.

First I downloaded all three of the new money versions none of which could
open any of my files - then it was suggested I try opening it with 2005 and
then if that didn't work the site (which I now cannot find so that I could
right down the message) suggested I use a 2004 work around which they
offered and I downloaded 2004 and tried - same message each time saying it
couldn't be done.
I wish I had access to my old Money 2000 disk so I could try it and see if
it works with it

What happens when you use the Money 2004? Is there an "incompatible
version" error message, or what?

Default Money 1998 / 2000

I had Money 2000 and had to reinstall it but lost the CD (I still have my
old 98 CD but it can't open the files) I attempted to install a later
version of Money but even using 2004 work around I can't seem to open my
files with any of them - what can I do - I'm looking for a copy of 2000 in
the hope I can reaccess my file. What else can I do - where can I get a
2000?
