| You said that your purchase was made thru Digital River; I assume you used Digital Locker Assistant to do the download. If this is the case, you might sign on back into Digital Locker Assistant to burn to CD a legal copy of the program for backup purposes. If you didn't use Digital Locker Assistant, I recommend that you visit the site (http://digitallocker.windowsmarketplace.com) to download and install the Digital Locker program. Afterwards, you may add to your profile the existence of software you already own, such as Money Plus Deluxe and enjoy the previleges offered by the website. Hopefully, this information is helpful to you. -- ZuluDiver "cvonbargen" wrote: - quote - > I purchased Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe last September and downloaded the > program to my laptop via Digital River. | As Cal suggested, your solution is cloning your current drive by creating an image of your existing drive. This will have the added benefit of restoring all your current programs without having to reinstall and reconfigure them. While you can create the image on a series of DVDs, you are better off buying (if you don't have one already) and external hard drive, You will then need a program that will create an image, the best is Acronis TruImage, but there are some free ones as well (do a Google search). Also if your laptop's hard drive is made by Seagate or Maxtor (or, I think) if the external drive you buy is one of those, you can download *for free* Maxblast (Googol for it) which is a slightly crippled version of Acronis TI. (For your purposes you do not need any of the disabled features). -- Peace, BobJ "cvonbargen" <cvonbargen[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C2A6CDEF-00C3-4D41-945D-CA1F1AC0C360[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > No, I wasn't aware I could save a copy of the install file until I did > some > digging the last few days. In that case, the cloning to a new drive, or backing up to a whole> digging the last few days. Do you know of any other options I may have? drive image that you can restore to the old drive, should be open to you. I don't have specific info for you on disk backup software. The cloning to a spare drive with a USB adaptor I have done. It's also a nice opportunity to get a bigger, or maybe even faster, drive too. There are a lot of good drives for well under $100 with shipping. It's nice to know that you can get the laptop computer going again quickly if the drive hardware or software fails. |

| No, I wasn't aware I could save a copy of the install file until I did some digging the last few days. My issue with the laptop is that the wireless card isn't working, which is a known error, and will be replaced by the manufacturer. Do you know of any other options I may have? Thank you very much for your help, it is greatly appreciated. Courtney "Marilyn & Bob" wrote: - quote - > I assume from your message that you did not save a copy of your install file > to a CD. | I assume from your message that you did not save a copy of your install file to a CD. (I guess you will do that next time for all your downloaded software). You didn't say what the problem with your laptop is. Depending on the reason it is being sent to the manufacturer, you might have some options. -- Peace, BobJ "cvonbargen" <cvonbargen[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:21584D2F-091B-4330-9D13-7E0E1427DE78[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I purchased Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe last September and downloaded the > program to my laptop via Digital River. | I purchased Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe last September and downloaded the program to my laptop via Digital River. My laptop now has an issue that requires it to be sent to the manufacturer, and they informed me that it would be returned to me with factory-restored settings. Is there a way I can back up the actual program so I may re-install when I receive the laptop back? If not, what are my options? I only purchased the program two months ago, but it is out of the 30 day window they allow to re-install for free. |
