In retrospect, it seems obvious. I was pleased that it worked as I had hoped. My first try had been to put in a bogus symbol into the symbol space. I used FAKE1 as the symbol. If I did only that, it seemed to pull the price from the OFX file. But with Portfolio-> UpdatePrices-> PickQuotesToDownload, the prices held. Let us know what you find. If you would like to get into an autopsy on the OFX file, we could discuss what to look for. It would probably be an academic exercise. People, including FIs, somehow aren't as eager to hear about bugs as we start out imagining. - quote - > Thank you for diagnosing this Cal, I always appreciate that you (and > the few other hardcore regular posters) take the time to share your > expertise. |

| Thanks for the reply - been trying to fix this using your advice over the weekend. You're right - I have no symbol on the investment I initially set up for this account. When the update comes in, I combine the investment in the feed (which does NOT show a symbol when I'm asked to combine it) with my existing investment. At this point, the share balances are correct, but, as described above, the share price and account balance are both 0 as of the update date. When I go to the details for my original investment, I can now click on "manage combined investments" - the popup that opens shows the name of the investment in the update "Aggressive", and, although there was no ticker/cusip in the data shown in the original merge request, Money has put the name "Aggressive" into the CUSIP field. Since it never finds this symbol on the quote server, it assumes it's 0... I can see no way to remove the CUSIP from this investment - it's not editable in the "manage combined" dialog, and I don't know how else to access it. Any help would be appreciated in trying to get this to work more like I'd expect. My current options are 1) go back to manually tracking these accounts (not too painful, few transactions/month, but no automated price tracking even in theory), or 2) clear the fake 0 price after updates - an annoyance and STILL no price tracking (which is what i actually wanted), but at least I get transaction confirmations for my efforts. Thank you for diagnosing this Cal, I always appreciate that you (and the few other hardcore regular posters) take the time to share your expertise. - John On Nov 13, 3:51*pm, Cal Learner-- MVP <via_newsgr...[at]please.tnxwrote: - quote - > If you have no symbol, then Money is not getting the price from the > quote server. | Running M08Dlx. I have 529 accounts that get updated through MSN/ Yodlee. Transactions and daily shares come across OK, but since it's not a publicly traded fund/stock, there's no ticker or cusip. Therefore, Money can't find a price for it, so it inserts a $0.00 price every time it updates, driving the 529 acct's value to $0.00. Is there a way to tell Money to NOT try to update the price for this particular investment when updaing quotes, but still pick up transactions, verify share counts, etc. when updating account data. (searched the forum & umpmfaq - didn't see anything obviously applicable) Thanks - John |
