How much they are like text files differs with the supplier. Some
don't add "newline" characters between elements. When viewing with a
text editor, I replace all '<' characters with newline+'<'.

OFX file also come in two major forms:
version 1.x, which uses SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language)
as the underlying markup language.

version 2.x which uses XML. Those files will have "xml" in the first
few characters of the file. Those can be viewed formatted in IE by
making a copy of the file named *.xml, and then opening that for
viewing in IE.

ofx.net has specifications.

I hope things are working well for you now.

Arr ... you are right. I chose the wrong account ! In any case, I
never realized that these OFX files are actually text files.

Thanks for your help !

Is that an OFX file that you are downloading? I expect that it is.

If so, inspect it with a text editor to see if it has things like

<INVSTMTMSGSRSV1<INVSTMTRS<INVACCTFROM<BROKERID<IN VTRANLIST
or whether it has things like
<BANKMSGSRSV1<BANKACCTFROM<BANKID<BANKTRANLIST

Default E*Trade bank account statement import ...

Hi,

I noticed that I was able to sync my E*Trade investment account
directly in MS Money, but I was unable to sync my E*Trade savings bank
account.

Alternatively, I tried to download my E*Trade account statement from
the E*Trade website and then later import it into microsoft money, but
MS Money Plus always seems to recognize it as a "Broker" statement and
lists only my investment accounts for matching (my E*Trade savings
account is not even listed in the listed choices).

Did anyone else have the same problem ? How to resolve this ?

Thanks,
Vijay.
