True. Your resetting mechanism would be File-> Restore. It may differ with which broker you use. | I have questions about this too. If I update accounts from my broker less than 24 hours after placing a buy/sell trade, Microsoft Money will see the change in shares owned in the account and will prompt to "Add Shares" or "Remove Shares". This is not the case if you wait 24 hours or more (in that case, full buy/sell transaction details are downloaded). I can remove these "Add Shares" or "Remove Shares" transactions once the transaction details are available for downloading a day later, but the problem is, after doing this Microsoft Money will no longer download the buy/sell transaction details after prompting to "Add Shares". Is there any way to reset Microsoft Money after something like this happens, so that Microsoft Money will recognize the transaction has not been downloaded yet, allowing it to download full transaction details? The program seems to treat the transaction as "already downloaded" after going through the "Add Shares" prompt and disregards downloading transaction details that become available afterwards. I realize the obvious solution is to wait at least 24 hours after making a buy/sell, but sometimes accidents happen or other accounts need to be updated sooner. Thanks for any help. |

In my first reply, I somehow had missed the day-trade aspect, which> When importing my daily statement of buys & sells, Money will add shares > before it realizes I bought shares in an attempt to balance. > The message reads: Note: Because you have only 0 shares available, Money > assumes you want to add shares to your account register. Any suggestions? Thanks!!! was the central point in your post. You will need to enter the Buy transactions manually first, before processing the downloaded statement. There is no setting to order the downloaded Buys for the day before the Sells. This is the way it is. :-( Your other workaround would be to let the AddShares be generated, and the Delete the AddShares. |

This would be caused by the FI updating the holdings info at a> When importing my daily statement of buys & sells, Money will add shares > before it realizes I bought shares in an attempt to balance. > The message reads: Note: Because you have only 0 shares available, Money > assumes you want to add shares to your account register. Any suggestions? Thanks!!! different time than it adds the transactions to the statement download. This would be a quirk of a given FI. I suggest you work around it by 1. Get in the habit of changing the radio button about whether Money should update the positions. Unfortunately there is no setting to change the default. 2. Update at a time when your FI's servers are not in flux. In particular, avoid the time between midnight your time, and midnight at your FI. Add an extra hour maybe too. If you update in the morning, that should allow a lot of time for things to settle. This might require turning off background banking. In Money Plus, you can do this at On Tools-> InternetUpdates-> CustomizeUpdates; there is a UseAutomatedUpdates checkbox to control Automated Online Updates. |

| Thanks in advance for help with this! I'm using Money 2007 Home & Business. When importing my daily statement of buys & sells, Money will add shares before it realizes I bought shares in an attempt to balance. The message reads: Note: Because you have only 0 shares available, Money assumes you want to add shares to your account register. Money will add X shares to offset the X shares being removed. When finished I have to manually remove all the additional transactions Money added so that I have an accurate balance. There is no option to avoid this (that I can find). Any suggestions? Thanks!!! |
