| Money first checks the FI list (which contain the password rules provided by each FI and how to connect to that FI) for any updates to verify if that FI is still supported/available. Then once this is validated (including the password rules), Money will contact the appropriate OFX server. -Mark "bummpr" <bummpr[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0228072B-91CC-40B2-8670-BA360E867C54[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Cal, Thanks for your prompt reply!!! > I had no problems related to the conversion of the accounts after the > recent > merger of these CU's. | Cal, Thanks for your prompt reply!!! I had no problems related to the conversion of the accounts after the recent merger of these CU's. I had to follow the steps outlined at the link you provided. I am suggesting that this "password edit" is programatic within Money itself (and has been for many past versions) because it pops up before connection is made to the OFX server. You could verify this yourself (and for me) by trying to change your password to any existing FI online service within Money to something that contains a special character. Another reason I believe this password edit is programatic and not a problem or restriction by the FI is that I have (and continue to use) Quicken to successfully access these same accounts thru the OFX server that have the complex password. It is the primary reason I cannot eliminate Quicken...I have been running parallel systems for several years. I am hoping you could use your considerable influence with MS to address this long outstanding issue. Again, thanks much for your responses. -- --------- bummpr "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, bummpr wrote: > > This error message was received from both Great Wisconsin Credit Union and > > Summit Credit Union (WI). > > > This error message shows up during "setup" before any access to the FI is > > attempted. | I'll not "suggest" it. I'll state it flat out: Yes, the FI's determine their password rules. It is up to them to let Microsoft know if they change. Also as Cal (and others) have stated, an FI's OFX credentials may be different then their web site credentials. You may have to contact your FI to have them enable your accounts for OFX (they might charge a fee). -Mark "bummpr" <bummpr[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E3DA154C-5107-4464-A8EB-AB3C34793210[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > This error message was received from both Great Wisconsin Credit Union and > Summit Credit Union (WI). > This error message shows up during "setup" before any access to the FI is > attempted. The requirements for the password are set up by them. Check http://www.summitcreditunion.com/cgi...crosoft;page=2 and http://www.summitcreditunion.com/summit.php?page=375 to see if that's something you will need to do. | This error message was received from both Great Wisconsin Credit Union and Summit Credit Union (WI). This error message shows up during "setup" before any access to the FI is attempted. | I am on the latest version of MS Money Plus Deluxe (but this problem has been evident for the prior two versions of Money). My wife has responsibly created online passwords for which contain mixed case letters, numbers AND special characters. Guess what...I try to establish online connection setup profile for her accounts in Money and I am unable to complete because Money indicates the password "cannot contain special characters (such as punctuation or symbols)." This seems absurd when everyone (including the financial institutions, security experts AND Microsoft) is encouraging people to make their passwords more complex and to INCLUDE special characters. Please fix this BAD edit so I can finally update all my family accounts in Money and get rid of Quicken (which has never had a problem with the passwords I want to create). Thanks for your attention to this matter! --------- bummpr ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
