Steve and Cal - Thank you both for your replies. Steve your suggestions put
me on the rigth path. I had downloaded VS2008 SP1 and the Azure SDK
following PDC. Something in all those downloads appears to have messed up my
machine. (I know I should be using a VPC image for the CTP stuff). Anyhow,
I fixed it by installing IE8 Beta 2. All is well now.

Thank you both for your help!

First, don't overwrite your recent backup files. Money Plus makes 4
by default, representing the last 4 times you closed Money. You can
increase that number. Your fix may end up being to restore your
second, third, or fourth-oldest backup, depending on how many times
you exited after the problem started.

Start with File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair

Next I would try making a repaired version of your file with
File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2.

Try copying Sample.mny from your install folder to your Documents
folder, and opening that copy. If the problem exists with that file,
that would imply the problem is with your install, rather than with
your Money data file.

Did you install the Internet Explorer beta? It's not compatible.

Try running Money from the Administrator account. That would show
whether it's a permissions issue.

Try creating a new user account, then run Money from that. That would
give you default Internet Explorer settings and show whether it's an IE
setting problem.

Make a copy of your data file and run the repairs. That would show
whether it's a simple data corruption problem. There are two levels of
repair. Run the simpler one first, then test. If that doesn't work,
then run the more complete repair and test again.

Report the results back here, quoting version numbers and any error
messages. Maybe someone can figure something out.

Default Cannot edit dates, memos, or amounts

I am running MS Money Plus Deluxe (expires 12-29-09) on Vista Ultimate.
Something strange has recently happened such that I can no longer edit dates,
amounts, or memos in any of my accounts. It does not matter if the
transaction is downloaded or entered manually. It also does not matter what
account I use. I can tell when an update is accepted as there is a "beep"
sound. When I hit "Enter" after editing the memo, date, or amount fields
there is no beep.

I restored from a recent backup and the problem is the same. The only thing
I've not done is re-install the application.

This is something new. I've been running Money for months now without a
problem. Is it possible that a OS patch caused this or MS silently updated
Money without my knowledge?

Does this sound familiar to anyone ?

Thanks
Scott
