"[path] [filename].mny.mbf is corrupted or is not a Money backup file." That's an unusual name for a Money backup file. Is it possible that you copied your *.mny to that name? If that's possible, make a copy of one of your backups with a *.mny name. Close Money. Open Money by right-clicking that *.mny file in Windows Explorer, and choosing Open. No joy? Try the same with one of your *.mbf files. If you are still having a problem, I guess I would see what the Money 2004 or 2005 trial makes of your file. If that works, it would say something about your file. It could be the bridge to open your file with a new version. I understand that was not your objective. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913108/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919524 |

Selecting "restore backup" I cannot choose it on my own. 2001 insists on searching my entire HD for it. Then when it finds it (in a file folder called "backup") I can then select it and, of course, the same error occurs. I am so perplexed. |

Try File-> Restore. Browse to your *.mbf file. Rather than restoring> While it still worked I backed up all my important > files to CD's and DVD's. | In my previous computer I had a flaky hard drive. While it still worked I backed up all my important files to CD's and DVD's. Since I dutifully backed up my MNY file (to two locations) each time I used my Money 2001 I didn't think to copy my MNY file I merely copied the MBF files from those locations. Once, I had to use that an MBF file as my MNY file was corrupt and it worked flawlessly. I saw no reason why it shouldn't do so again. Plus I was in panic mode to get all the data possible from the dying HD. Now that I have a new computer I installed my copy of MM 2001 and when I went to open the MBF file I got the dreaded: "[path] [filename].mny.mbf is corrupted or is not a Money backup file." Both of my backup MBF files read the same way. Is there any method to cure that or are years worth of accounting hosed and down the drain? Running XP w/SP3. Thanks.......... |
