| There is a file size limit. But it's so large that it's really only theoretical not a practical limit any Money file will reach in anyone's lifetime. Size does seem to have some minor impact on performance. But other things--Money's complete lack of ability to keep its own Bill data sane comes to mind--seem to have far bigger impacts on performance. Yes, I'm saying that I would do nothing different based solely on having a 20MB or 200MB Money file. Yes, and yes. Import them all at once (using Ctrl+<click> to select> an issue. That allows transfers to be recognized. You can edit the files to eliminate potential duplicates. On the other hand, you could try re-downloading to a copy of the old file if the time away from the old file is not too long. If you don't like that result, you can still go with the QIF thing. |

| I created a new one because I thought there was a file size limit (especially in regards to speed within money), but you're saying that's not true? Additionally, I have about 20 GB left on my 75 GB hard drive, so space isn't an issue. And I backup to my 100GB HD regularly. I do not download any stock quotes, just banking transactions, but I do have about 10 different accounts between 3 different instutions - 3 of them brand new. Would you recommend that I just add my new bank accounts to my original Money file? If so, can I just use the loose qif import/export function to transfer the new one in? | There is no easy or effective way to do what you ask. Many of us would also argue that there was no reason or benefit to creating a brand new Money file. Mine is 67.6MB and has transactions continuous back to spring of 1993. | I created a brand new mny file (my old one was almost 20 MB) but now, I don't want to have to re-enter all my Payees and my Recurring Transactions setup. Is there any way to do this? I am using Money 2008. |
