| Change from Money Essentials (MEss--really more of a toy for people who don't actually do things like expect meaningful reports) to Money Deluxe or higher. There, when using a thing called the Advanced Register, Transfers can really be Transfers (show up in both accounts from one entry and not be an Expense or Income) and Credit Card Payments can really be Transfers as well. (Transfer and Credit Card Payment in Deluxe Advanced Register are what Money calls "Special Categories" in that they are not really categories as such and specify a target account for the other side of the transaction. There is no way to do this in MEss.) You can also use Advanced Reports which give you much better granularity over how things are reported. (The latter is less necessary once you've eliminated the entirely evil "Credit Card Payments / Transfers" Expense Category in favor of Transfers and/or Credit Card Payments. | Hi, I'm using MS Money essentials. I simply want to track where my money is going for now and see what else it can do. I've imported all my transactions for Sep/Oct and have categorized them. The problem is I have 2 accounts. Chequing and Savings which is typical. I regularly transfer money from Savings to Chequing and I have categorized each of these transactions as an expense in the category "Credit Card Payments/Transfers". The problem is, the report is showing 77% of my expenses are transfers and credit card payments. What should I do? Thanks |
