Their web site says they're in lots of states, so possibly there's a holiday coming up in one of them; or maybe they have some kind of internal bank holiday; or maybe the SEC is declaring something. The obvious, but boring, reason would be that the programmers just screwed up. -- Steve Bell New Life Home Improvement Arlington, TX |

| Hi Steve, Suntrust figures out from the payee the amount of time the bill takes to arrive at its destination. So the target date is the date the check will arrive but it is actually sent (either by paper or electronically) that many days before. And yes, if the target date is a weekend or holiday, it will adjust the target date to the first working date beforehand. What is unusual is that *this week*, Suntrust appears to be adjusting the target date one day before where there apparently is no holiday or weekend. The scheduling is internally inconsistent: November 4th is changed to November 3rd but scheduling November 3rd will be adjusted to the Friday before. If November 3rd was a holiday, then it shouldn't have scheduled the November 4th payment on Nov 3rd. If Nov 4th was a holiday, it shouldn't have touched Nov 3rd unless both were holidays. Something seems afoot... -- John "SteveBell" <respond[at]online.newsgroup.invalid> wrote in message news:xn0fwvxer1e3nsx000[at]msnews.microsoft.com... - quote - > JohnA wrote: > > When I pay a bill through Suntrust Bank, it appears to go back a day. > > So if I target a bill for 11/3, it gets changed to 10/31. Anyone else > experiencing a problem? DST is supposed to end that week, right? transit time or bank holidays. I used to use 5th 3rd Bank. When my payee couldn't do electronic transfers, 5/3 printed a paper check and sent it enough days early that the mail would hypothetically get there before the date I specified. When the payee _could_ do transfers, it usually occurred on the day I specified, or a day or two before--this varied. I suspect Suntrust is trying to protect you from yourself, which is unusual. Most banks lately want to maximize the number of fees they can charge. I used to try to time my payments to maximize the float, but I gave it up after a couple of late payments, even though they were forgiven. -- Steve Bell New Life Home Improvement Arlington, TX |

| Hi, When I pay a bill through Suntrust Bank, it appears to go back a day. So if I target a bill for 11/3, it gets changed to 10/31. If I target the same bill for 11/4, it gets changed to 11/3. Anyone else experiencing a problem? DST is supposed to end that week, right? -- John |
