| Have you tried Reseting IE back to defaults (on the Advanced tab of Internet Explorer's Options) This could be caused by some caching of old pages and/or a cookie related to Money, Moneycentral, Passport and/or Live So clearing the Temporary Internet Files and Cookies may resolve this. But if you clear all your cookies this will mean that any preferences for other websites saved in their cookies will have to be chosen again (for example remembered passwords, etc) Also be sure that you have closed all instances of Internet Explorer and Money (it may simply be easier to restart your computer to ensure this) -Mark "Susannah" <Susannah[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:817DF500-5238-4492-A27E-46990B14E710[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Susannah wrote: > > > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > > > > > In microsoft.public.money, Susannah wrote: > > > > > > > > I cannot sign in. Go to step > A3 again. to complete them I had to sign in with my Live ID. So, I removed my password from the file and tried to re-add it. Didn't work. I tried to use a different Live ID (the one I'm using to post here). Didn't work and I know the account info is valid because I entered it on this site. I tried following the steps to create a new Live ID and link it to the Money file. Didn't work - the website it tried to open posted a 500 server error. Ugh... Without Live ID I can at least download transactions from my primary credit card, but other accounts (checking, savings, etc.) won't work unless I can get the Live ID working and enable My Accounts feature. |

I'm not going to use this software if I have to > manually download the files and import them to Money. out of your file. It appears that you are getting into your file, but are not able to get your transactions and balances to download. That would be for the institutions that have the term "third party" in the description from http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx The data for those is fetched from your financial institution's web page for you by a third part by MSN Money/Moneycentral. That connection may be hung up somehow. If this seems to fits your case, first make an extra copy or backup of your file in case you don't like the results. This is unlikely to be needed, but it is still worthwhile. Then... A1. Go to the first item in Tools-> Settings to disable those updates from MSN Money using the first choice in the list. That will stop that connection, and I think it will disable those accounts for online access for now. A2. Re-enable that same item. That will permit you to set up those accounts for online access again. Try updating your accounts. If you get errors that indicate a sign in error, go to step B1 below. A3. Set up each such account for online access again by AccountList-> ManageOnlineServices (or Banking-> AccountTools-> ManageOnlineServices). Set up one of the accounts for online services. This should result in an extra account (or more if you have multiple accounts at that institution) being created with the recent transactions. You will next Merge the new account(s) with the existing account. A4. AccountList-> MergeDuplicateAccounts. This will give a list of accounts that are not set up for online access at the moment, and a drop-down list of online-enabled accounts for each. For the old account(s) for the institution, select the appropriate account that just got created. Don't worry about the warning. It will not cause you to lose transactions already in the old account. If this fixes things, repeat for each affected account. If not, post back with what happened. B1. There the problem could be in the LiveID. Remove the LiveID from your file at File-> PasswordManager. Close Money. B2. If Open Money and add your same LiveID back to the file at File-> PasswordManager. If you tried that already, create a new LiveID, and apply it to Money. Close Money. Open Money. Go to step A3 again. |

I the repaired *.mny file, I get the message that my information isn't verified. My file continues to open, but my accounts are no longer automatically updated. I'm not going to use this software if I have to manually download the files and import them to Money. |

Make an extra copy of your later backups onto other media while you are thinking of it. To restore, one way is to locate your newest, or second-newest *.mbf file in WE. Open Money by right-clicking the file. During the restore, instead of restoring to the "default location", you can browse to your Documents folder, and select a new name. That way you won't overwrite that *.mny file that you have not totally given up hope for. |

| I cannot sign in. Message is "The sign-in attempt for sbebee[at]messengeruser.com was unsuccessful. Please try again." That is what happens if I open my money file "offline". When signing in initially, the message is "Money could not verify your sign-in information. You can use some Money features, but you can't get online updates or do other online tasks in Money. To regain access..." Any ideas? I've reinstalled, I've repaired Money, I've cleared temp internet files. I'm frustrated and stuck and about to give up on MS technologies. |
