You have probably assigned that symbol to a similarly named> brokerage account, IJH--ISHARES TR S P MIDCAP 400. I entered the symbol > IJH. If I try to enter the symbol IJH in the blank area, click > Change, I get the message that the symbol is already being used for this > fund. security. Here is what you can do. In any investment account, create a new fake dividend by going to the place where you would specify the investment. Type *only* the letters of the symbol, and then hit the Tab key. Expect Money to fill in the name of *some* investment. Select Dividend from the drop-down list. Enter any amount.... it is only temporary. Now that you have the fake dividend in place, right-click the transaction, and choose GoToInvestment. Now at that investment, you could blank out the symbol, so that you could re-use it for a different investment. Alternatively, you might see what investment already had that symbol. If it is the right name, you could just go with that one. If you had created it as a MutualFund or as a Bond and the ETF is downloading as a Stock, you will need something that is of type Stock. You could either change that MutualFund to a Stock ...... you get the idea. Now if you end up with an orphan investment defined that you are not going to use, make sure that symbol is blank. Rename it to zzzz3 or some such. Then you can delete it. The renaming is in case it hangs around somehow, it won't match anything. Go back and Delete that bogus Dividend transaction. - quote - > Well no kidding. > Is there some way to fix this problem? > Thanks |

| I bought the following fund (ETF) and entered the transaction into my brokerage account, IJH--ISHARES TR S P MIDCAP 400. I entered the symbol IJH. When I look in Portfolio Manger the name is there but the symbol is absent. Therefore no updates, I go to the Investment Details screen and the area where the symbol should be, it is blank. If I try to enter the symbol IJH in the blank area, click Change, I get the message that the symbol is already being used for this fund. Well no kidding. Is there some way to fix this problem? Thanks |
