| Thanks for that - I'll give it a shot. Maybe I can also setup USD or GBP as my own investement type. I could always buy it at 1 and pay the interest as a dividend. I guess this might make it work? Amazing that that the product after 10+ years of evolution does not have a defualt option for this type of working. | You can create a 'generic' investment account and record your deposits, withdrawals, interest, etc. transactions in it and it will keep the value of the account in portfolio manager. You could record the interest as "Investment Income:Interest". However, Portfolio Manager won't keep up w/ Total Return or much anything else in the analytic columns like it does for stocks. | The flexibility of Portfolio Manager, with the nice view and all the user definable columns is great – especially the way it automatically averages the total return on all your investments in real time. Because of this total return feature, I’d also like to have my cash savings account listed in Portfolio Manager which I see is not supported if you define your cash in a savings or checking account. Therefore, what is the best way to define a cash account so it will appear in Portfolio Manager, such as setting it up as another investment type in an investment account? Also, what would be the best way of defining interest (dividend?) so it tracks the return on cash like it does on stocks? |
