You might try saving the OFX file. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911941/ tells how. The OFX files can be difficult to follow. If it is OFX version 2.x, you can rename the log file to *.xml and view it in IE. If it is version 1.x, you could use a text editor such as Notepad. The account description would include "<ACCTTYPE> CREDITLINE" for a line of credit. What kind of account does Money show this account as in the Details? I have not dealt with that kind of account. |

| Alas, it's the online update right through Money with the bank charging me $10 bucks a month for the convenience. Seems to work well for everything but an LOC. I've opening a case with Microsoft support; hopefully they will have a suggestion. Thanks. | Hope this helps someone troubleshoot this: I delete the opening balance and then clicked "adjust account balance". Money says it wants my opening balance to be a negative number, indicating it believes my balance to be a credit on the account, This is backwards of course since I (unfortunately) owe the money! How do I determine which end the trouble is on? My program, or the bank's download? Many thanks, Steve "sbennett3705" wrote: - quote - > It's wired. I suspect the first two "it"s refers to the account register. The> Balance: $12,500", yet below it says "I owe< $12,500> ". There are no > transactions, it's opening balance is a negative number coming from the bank. "Bank Balance" is the amount of the last downloaded balance. I expect that the bottom of the register says "You owe ($12,500)" with parentheses indicating the negative amount. The account... is that a credit card account, a loan account or what? I suspect you don't actually have $12500 credit balance. If this were a credit line, you might try telling Money that this is a checking account (in which you are in the red) rather than a credit card or a loan. - quote - > Any ideas? > Thanks! > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, sbennett3705 wrote: > > > > I don't see where a liability can also be an asset? > > > > > Anyway it overstates by net worth by the amount of the LOC since it puts it > > > into the asset column. > > > One more thing: if you enter an OpeningBalance for the loan or > > credit card account that you owe money on, you should enter a > > positive number. | It's wired. I just downloaded the account to a fresh file and it's says "Bank Balance: $12,500", yet below it says "I owe< $12,500> ". There are no transactions, it's opening balance is a negative number coming from the bank. Any ideas? Thanks! One more thing: if you enter an OpeningBalance for the loan or> Anyway it overstates by net worth by the amount of the LOC since it puts it > into the asset column. credit card account that you owe money on, you should enter a positive number. If you owed money and entered a negative number when you started the account, go the Settings for the account and change the OpeningBalance. |

Suppose your spend $100 with your credit card. You owe $100, shownin black in the credit card account. The account list will show a -100 balance for the account in red. The account list has both asset and liability accounts, and shows amount for both asset and liability accounts as if they were asset type accounts for self-consistency on that page. You mail a $150 check to the credit card company. That creates a credit balance. Money says you owe -50, which it shows in red. At the bottom of the register, it says you owe -50. When you owe a negative amount, that actually means that they owe money to you. On the account list, it now shows a balance of 50 in black. - quote - > Anyway it overstates by net worth by the amount of the LOC since it puts it

| I don't see where a liability can also be an asset? Anyway it overstates by net worth by the amount of the LOC since it puts it into the asset column. I also another credit card reporting the same way. Geez, I'm confused. Help!
