If in doubt, you could keep some overlap, expecting to manually delete the duplicates. Don't forget to do both the Investment transactions and cash. 2. Import the edited files ALL AT ONCE as a recovered account. This will allow Money to recognize transfers and the relationship between the investment and cash end of transactions. 3. Inspect the files, and delete/void possible duplicates. |

| ok...that will help, but I will lose all the data entry during the trial period. Is there another way around this without losing all that data? | I am having a similar problem with Money 2002. I downloaded the trial version of Money Plus Deluxe to see if there were any significant changes to 2002. I decided that there wasn't anything significantly different, so I went back to MM2002. I have tried to restore my current Money Plus backup into MM2002 and it prompts me for a password. Enter the password and it tells me it is incorrect. I tried restoring the same backup file into Money Plus, and when it prompts me for a password, it accepts the same one I tried to use for MM2002. Getting frustrated at this point. Any help? O/S is XP "mothra7" wrote: - quote - > I had to format and thus lost all of my data. | Once again, for the archives: Downloading the trial edition of Money Essentials (MEss) will not help open a file from any other version edition of Money. It's incapable. You need Deluxe or higher to open files created by ANY Version/Edition of Money besides MEss. | Thanks for the help...you're absolutely correct! I can't tell you how many hours I've spent trying to work around this problem, so thank goodness for your expertise! I suspect that your Money file was from a version newer than Money> access the information from Dell DataSafe Online and now I'm trying to > restore to Money. You would need the Money Plus Deluxe trial, rather that the Money> accept data from older versions. Essentials trial that I suspect you downloaded. If you tried the Money Plus Deluxe trial, you would expect to find a *.m12 file created as a backup of a converted Money 2004 *.mny file. You would get a higher number for that m1* extension if the converted file was from a later version. Money Plus Deluxe will keep multiple backups on your hard drive-- 4 by default, but you could increase that. In addition, you can have a scheduled backup with multiple versions kept. I suggest USB flash drives. It's nice that you had that Dell DataSafe Online, assuming you get things going again. |

| I had to format and thus lost all of my data. Fortunately, I was able to access the information from Dell DataSafe Online and now I'm trying to restore to Money. When I try to restore, I am prompted for a password. I don't have a password and have tried various combinations. I've never used a password when working with Money before and don't want to use one. How can I get around this? I tried to download the trial version of the newest Money, but it doesn't accept data from older versions. |
