Based on http://www.sc.rr.com/rrhelp/firewall.htm and other links,> > firewall? > I'm not sure what you mean by offline. I don't have a firewall, I use Time > Warner Roadrunner, and it provides it automatically. > it looks as if RR lets you download "EZ Armor Security Software provided by Computer Associates". I don't remember anybody saying that has been a problem with Money, but it still could be blocking something associate with the LiveID sign in. But if you installed that, that would be the software firewall I was referring to. Here is what I would try: Create a new XP or Vista user. In XP that is Start-> Settings-> ControlPanel-> UserAccounts-> CreateANewAccount Switch to that user and start Money with a new blank file. Add your LiveId. See if Money has a problem with that. The theory is that if the problem is an IE setting, you will get default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and your regular IE settings will not have been changed. So if the problem does not show up, then expect that the problem is something associated with your regular user. If the problem exists, it may be associated with your security software. If you have another computer handy, you could try the Money Plus trial on that. See if it can open or restore a copy of your file, and work as you like. If that works, don't assume it is a problem with your Money 2007 install. Instead it would more likely indicate some setting or condition in your regular computer. |

I don't know what you mean. How does that differ from what you> it says I have to have one. posted yesterday? If you have a LiveID on the file, you need to enter that LiveID to get into the file. That is called signing in offline if you are not signing into the LiveID server too. To remove you LiveID on a file, I expect that you will have to disable any FIs for online access if that FI involves access thru a third party. See the description via http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx - quote - > I can not find my software disk. If I purchased the newest version of the
I don't think that it would change your situation.> software, would I be able to bring in my existing data? If you want to see if Money opens on a different file, you could create a new file, or open Sample.mny. While you are thinking of it, save your Money file and your backups onto other media, such as a USB flash drive, and/or burn them onto a CD/DVD. This will guard against hard drive failure and deleting/overwriting a file you might want later. |

I would save your existing backups that predate the problem, if itis not too late. Can/could you sign in offline? If so, what do you use as a software firewall? I would consider removing the LiveID on a copy of your file (under a different name), so that will have that. You could add it back on later, if you like.
