If you change any existing Interest transactions to Dividend (and ReinvestInterest to ReinvestDividend, you may be able to transform this "mutual fund" to a "stock". If it had been set up as a Money Market Fund, that would be different. |

| I'll give them a call and see what happens. At least in the past with manual entries, I could actually download the transactions from their website and then import them into Money (correcting a few, such as admin fees). - Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. | Correct. All the funds end in "X". And none of these funds have Capital Gains transactions. The only thing that happens is interest on them is reinvested. - Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. | The problem is caused (as you surmised) by your broker incorrectly coding your Mutual Fund as a stock. There is no easy. If you go through the workaround of converting your Mutual Fund to a stock category, it won't be able to record capital gains. You can call your brokers Technical Service department and ask them to correct the problem, but my guess is that they will say that they cannot change their programming. My suggestion to you is to ignore this new "service" and go back to manually updating your account. -- Peace, BobJ "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:dnfef494eku9v0sv2n6prqs7ad1mdhnut7[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, The Merg wrote: > > Okay, what I did notice is that if I went through with adding the new > > funds, > > it created them as Stocks (even though they are mutual funds). > I suspect that these are closed end funds or ETFs, rather than > regular funds (five-letter symbols ending in X). > > I'm assuming > > tt will not let me combine the existing fund into the new fund since they > > are different types. | Okay, what I did notice is that if I went through with adding the new funds, it created them as Stocks (even though they are mutual funds). I'm assuming tt will not let me combine the existing fund into the new fund since they are different types. However, when I try to change the existing fund to a stock I am told that I have investment transactions not supported by this type and to edit or remove them before changing the security type. The only type of transactions that I have are Buy, Reinvest Dividend, and Remove Shares; all of which are available when an investment is a stock or mutual fund. - Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. | Yes. All of the existing mutual funds are shown as mutual funds. - Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. | I have an investment account that I can download transactions directly in MS Money 2007 Deluxe. I had already created the investments in the past and had been manually updating them until my provider offered this option. When I set up the on-line service, it went ahead and performed the first download. However, out of the 5 investments I have in the account, it will not recognize 3 of my investments. It wants to create a new investment in the account or have me select one from a drop down to match up with the downloaded investment. The items in the dropdown do not include the investment I have already been keeping track of my transactions in. As much as I can tell, the funds it is having issues with do not seem to have a stock symbol associated with them and the ones it is listing in the drop down do not have symbols associated with them either. How can I force it to use the investment that I already have created in my Portfolio? Thanks, Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. |
