In a later year, there could be a Sep 42.6 Put that is actually a different option, even tho it would have the same symbol in that later year. Note that CHKTI does not seem to be a current option. The 'T' would imply an August expiration rather than Sep. I would blank the symbol field if it is expired., and read the comment below: On Tue, 30 Sep 2008, "Scott Tyler" wrote: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - quote - > Something to watch out for: > When you download option prices (which I didn't know was possible until > seeing your post: I've been updating prices manually for the few months > that I've been trading options) the expiration date in the investment > details is populated. > When you close or expire your position, be sure to blank out or change the > symbol, and blank out the expiration date. For quote fetches in Microsoft Money, you would enter the symbol as ..CHKTI (leading '.'). The type should be an EquityOption. |

| I'm trying out Money Plus Deluxe (trial version). I can't update my investment account because it's hungup on option transactions. I download info from my investment account and I have an option short sale (sell to open). So I now have this list of transactions to enter into Money, and it hits the short option which is listed something like "CHK Sep 45 Call". It tells me that this item already exists, asks if I want to choose another from the pull-down list above, but the pull-down is grayed out. Then I notice an extra space after "CHK", so I delete one space and now it allows me to enter it, but makes some incomprehensible complaint about removing a symbol, but it does complete. Next it thorws up a complaint about +CHKTI (put option long - buy to open). Why it gives me the symbol instead of the name is beyond me. So I substitute the name, "CHK Sep 42.5 Put", more odd complaints. I thought the problem was just with short sales, but now I'm wondering if all options have a problem. Does anyone know? -- ----- Glenn Nelson in Santa Cruz |
