I realized the Bank Name #2 accounts were empty and not updating, so I
closed the accounts in Money and everything looks ok now.

You can only do a merge between an online account, and a non-online
account.

But yes, you might want to try that. When you restore, instead of
restoring to the "default location", you can choose a new name. That
way you will not overwrite an existing Money file. You will have to
change the backup file name root if you want to keep the backup
files separate.

Good. You might want to write down your serial number in case you
want to use that if you contact Microsoft Money support.

I don't recall whether I disabled the account for online access.
Should I restore a backup and try it?

I did purchase Money Plus a month or two ago when my old version quit
updating online.

Did you first disable your old accounts for online access and then
try to set them up again for online access? And then you tried the
merge? If so, and if you purchased Money Plus or Money 2007, I
suggest you contact Microsoft Money support.

I don't remember anybody else running into this, despite the warning
that comes up on a merge.

Default Account number change

Sorry for the repeat, but I'm still having trouble with this.

My bank changed my account number. I had to change the credentials
used for online updates. When Money updates, it creates a set of
duplicate accounts for that bank. Fine...I merge duplicate accounts
and everything should be fine, right? The next time money updates, it
creates ANOTHER set of duplicate accounts that have no transactions in
them. If I merge again, I can't see all my old transactions anymore.

How do I correct this?
