| Not sure it applies, but just to be sure: Money Essentials (MEss) CANNOT open Money anything else files of any vintage. If you downloaded Essentials, you need to unwind that and get Money Plus Deluxe or higher "Markus" wrote: - quote - > Thanks for your reply. When you install and first run the trial version that the KB article> and just want a new version of Money (that i am happy tp buy) but one that > can open older Money files. That is not the same as running from an administrator account. Ditto when you reinstall the Money Plus. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Markus wrote: > > > > I have an older version of Money, really old, like 10 years. | Thanks for your reply. But the real problem is taht I have changed computers and just want a new version of Money (that i am happy tp buy) but one that can open older Money files. I have a backup of my old file, so no data is lost. "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Markus wrote: > > I have an older version of Money, really old, like 10 years. Yes: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913108/en-us should help.> try to open it with the Money Plus version currently on sale, I get the > message that my old file has been saved with a newer version ;-) > Wheras this error message is obviously an error in itself, does anyone have > a suggestion? Note that Money Plus might have left a file named *.mn? in the same drive as the Money file. If so, that is a copy of your older file that Money Plus saved before trying to convert it. So if you don't have another copy of that old file, use the *.mn? file to work with. In fact, make a copy of that old file onto other media, in case something happens to your hard drive. |

| I have an older version of Money, really old, like 10 years. And when I try to open it with the Money Plus version currently on sale, I get the message that my old file has been saved with a newer version ;-) Wheras this error message is obviously an error in itself, does anyone have a suggestion? Please advise, Best regards, Markus |
