A problem you may run into later:> the expiration date incorrectly. Once I fixed the expiration date to > 9/20/08, it all works. > Thanks for your suggestions. Money Plus appears to automatically delete options one month after the expiration date. The transactions will still be in your investment registers, but the option and the price history will disappear, which will make it disappear from your portfolio and most of your reports. Someone had posted about this some months ago, but it took another month for the problem to appear in my portfolio. I'm presently working around this by blanking out the expiration date. Although an expiration date is required when first entering an option in Money, it can later be blanked out by rightclicking the option in the portfolio and selecting "Investment Details". I entered a test "Buy to Open" followed by a test "Exercise", and everything appeared to work properly with the expiration date blanked out. -- Scott Tyler agent_scotty-at-hotmail-dot-com |

When you look at the Details for the Call investment, does it show> the excersize of the call I show it exercize and everyhting looks right > except it wont allow me to put in a date that is acceptable. When you ask about options, you want to identify the version ofMoney. That way, if somebody wanted to try to replicate your problem, they could know if their version matched yours. I was unable to replicate your problem. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, neil154 wrote: > > > > I ventured into my first stock option and now it has been excersized. > > > > > I bought a call on JPM which expired on 9/20/08. | I found out the problem. I double checked the details screen and it showed the expiration date incorrectly. Once I fixed the expiration date to 9/20/08, it all works. Thanks for your suggestions. | I ventured into my first stock option and now it has been excersized. I bought a call on JPM which expired on 9/20/08. The call was excersized because the stock was above the strike price. When I try to enter the information into Money Plus HB, it telle me to enter a date between 9/10/2008 and 11/30/1999. Which of course does not make any sense but even if I change the date to within that period I still get the same response about the date. As a work around, I did it as 2 transactions - 1 to sell the shares and the other to have the options expire but I would prefer to show it correctly as one transaction. Would appreciate any guidance you might be able to offer. |
