| I have the same issue (almost). The installation finished on my server 2008 x64, however msmoney does not start. Instead it performs a fault report, showing a dialog that says "Microsoft Money has stopped working". Looks like the version that both of us have is the out of the box (no service pack) version, as there is a 17.0.0.1414 which is part of money plus SP1 or SP2 (not sure). However I have not found standalone installers for the service pack, and msmoney is not loading up, so it cannot perform the auto update. I too turned off DEP. I also tried copying the updated binaries (the entire Microsoft Money plus directory) from my old installation on Server 2003 R2 SP2 x86, however that crashes as well. Setting the compatibility mode to WinXP SP2 or earlier does not make a difference either. I have installed msxml4 sp2, to no effect. I would appreciate any other suggestions. thanks, -Ravi |

| I'm using Money 2007 without a problem on Vista x64. Try running Money as an administrator. Right-click the shortcut and choose Run as Admin. Even if you're logged in with an admin account, applications are normally running without admin rights. Running as admin should only be necessary to install teh updates. After that it works fine as a regular user. | I'm not all that familiar with Server 2008, but as for a virtual environment, what about Hyper-V? Isn't that already part of Server 2008? | Dont want to install a Virtual PC / VMware just for using Money alone. I guess failure occurs when money is trying to install the required software update before it begins the money installation. | Money has never been very good about operating on non-mainstream OS environments. I don't know this is your issue, but wouldn't be surprised for a moment. You might try installing some VMware. | I use Windows Server 2008 64 it for my development reasons. I tried to install Money plus 2008 Home and Business. After installation and when i open Money, it crashes. It says Money has stopped working. I turned of DEP and tried again. Still the same problem. I get the following errors in event log. Product: Microsoft Money Shared Libraries. The application tried to install a more recent version of the protected Windows file C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\IdentityCRL\ppcrlconfig.d ll. You may need to update your operating system for this application to work correctly. (Package Version: 3.200.4153.0, Operating System Protected Version: 3.200.4152.0). Faulting application msmoney.exe, version 17.0.0.724, time stamp 0x46a6d80b, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc000001d, fault offset 0x032a2887, process id 0x1500, application start time 0x01c91b76e8d7f0cd.
