Thus I have found that the easiest way to treat it is Cash in the cash account. On a monthly basis when I get a dividend/interest from the fund I simply enter it as a dividend (not a dividend reinvestment). This move the dividend into the cash account. The only thing I have to do is respond to the Money complaint that I am entering a dividend for a fund I do not own. I add the name of the fund used for the core cash to the information records associated with the account. I have also tried for a year or so to track it using its name and having it as a fund, only problem was when I sold or bought a mutual fund I had to manually add an additional transaction to move the money to the cash account so I could access it. This is same as you found out. |

FDRXX is not an account, it's a holding in an account.> Money Plus Deluxe. | You aren't going to like this answer. Don't depend on downloaded data. Then you can do it your way rather than the way Money feels compelled to do it with the Data setup the way Fidelity send it to them. I warned you that you wouldn't like my answer. Maybe someone will have a better one. I recommend you don't do so, to keep it simple.> Money Plus Deluxe. I've had a problem for years with Money wanting to > call the cash component of my Fidelity account "Contributions ($)" > when in fact it is FDRXX Fidelity Cash Reserves. I've tried and been > unable to rename or merge them. But if you *really* want to do this, enter Buys and Sells of FDRXX to keep your contributions account = $0 when you have no unsettled transactions. Whether a broker sends the Buy and Sell transactions for the sweep MMF varies with the broker. With Fidelity, who is sending the FDRXX Dividend transactions to you, the only really odd thing if you let the Contributions account reflect your sweep holdings is that the FDRXX will appear to have outlandishly high performance. |

| I've had several generations of Money including 99, 2004, 2006 and now Money Plus Deluxe. I've had a problem for years with Money wanting to call the cash component of my Fidelity account "Contributions ($)" when in fact it is FDRXX Fidelity Cash Reserves. I've tried and been unable to rename or merge them. The result is I have both listed in my Fidelity account, with Money using "Contributions ($)" and me having to manually move this cash to or from FDRXX. How do I solve this? |
