Yes. I would create a new XP user with Administrator privilege,> behavior. Or should I just pursue a refund? switch to that user and try to create a new Money file with no password or Live ID. The theory is that if the problem is an IE setting, you will get default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it would not change your settings as the main user. If that succeeds, you can look into settings for your regular user. You can contact support Monday. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Christian wrote: > > > > I have definitely rebooted. | Safe Mode with Network Support and Safe Mode... both exactly the same behavior. The only difference is that the process writes 360 bytes and reads only about 420K in both safe modes compared to the normal boot. Anything else? Or should I just pursue a refund? | I have definitely rebooted. As I mentioned, I went through most of the KB articles talking about Money install problems. Some of them said to reboot after install, before running... some had me changing DEP settings and then rebooting before even installing... etc. I have now also tried opening the sample.mny file directly... nothing seems to change the behavior. Always the same. The process comes up, consumes about 10 - 12 MB of memory... performs about 516K of reads and always exactly 144 bytes of writes. Then it just sits there doing nothing for the rest of its life. I do not have IE8 Beta installed. I have never installed IE8. I have IE7 with all of the latest patches (that goes for Windows XP as well). I have actually uninstalled my anti-virus completely just because it mentions that some cause problems with the install. Still, always the same behavior. Any other thoughts? "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Christian wrote: > > I am running Windows XP Professional. Can you open Money by double-clicking Sample.mny from your install folder? - quote - > I am a programmer so I happen to open up my debug view to see if I got > anything useful there (nothing in event viewer) and I get 2 lines like this > one (from the Money process) when starting Money: > %s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s %s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s > I would like to use this software, but so far it has been a miserable > experience. | I am running Windows XP Professional. I just purchased, downloaded, and installed Microsoft Money Plus Premium. All went off without a hitch or error message. Downloaded perfectly, installed perfectly, no problems what-so-ever. I then go to run either Money or Insights... both programs "start" in that I can see a process for them in task manager. From that point on, NOTHING happens. The process sits there forever (forcing me to end task to get rid of it) and no window or application ever launches. I have tried all of the related knowledge base articles about how to cleanly remove and reinstall the software... always the exact same behavior. Perfectly clean install, no error messages, stuck process that doesn't ever do anything. I am a programmer so I happen to open up my debug view to see if I got anything useful there (nothing in event viewer) and I get 2 lines like this one (from the Money process) when starting Money: %s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s %s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%s I would like to use this software, but so far it has been a miserable experience. Please help. Thanks. |
