| Thanks for your post. It happens that "tho Companhia Vale do Rio Doce" is in the portfolio and it is denominated in $ and it is an ADR since the shares were purchased in New York. There is not a single stock not purchased on Wall Street and all of them are denominated in $, the account currency is $ also. It is strange but reading other posts, I am not the only one having miscalculation problems, some have the purchase cost displayed wrongly, mine is the %TRall or the %gain, what ever I choose to display. Problem is not going away, unfortunatly Best Regards. This would apply to a stock like RIO traded on NYSE as an ADS, even tho Companhia Vale do Rio Doce is really a Brazilian company. I don't know how that would be handled in MSN Money. Is the AccountCurrency in USD? If not, I would make that change. - quote - > Wiil greatfull if someone can suggest a solution. |

| Thanks to all, I parted away witht he %gain column as suggested by Cal and I am using the TrAll. I re-inserted all the entries of the portfolio with the accurate purchase cost of the shares and the calculation of the TrAll column was OK. This lasted only a couple of days and I noted that the TrAll calculation started to move away and adding a few cents a day to the TrAll increasing the value of the gains. I suspect that MSN Money is accounting for exchange rates, even if the Portfolios are all in US$ and the stocks trade on Wall Street. Wiil greatfull if someone can suggest a solution. | Ah yes, of course. I misinterpreted your answer to mean that there was a setting within Money that allows TR to be calculated with or without dividends. - quote - > Most people have their dividends and capital gains distributions > automatically used to buy more shares. Since these are Buy transactions, they count toward the cost of the shares. So a ReinvestDividend is equivalent to a Dividend and a Buy. |

| Cal, Great advice, as usual. Please help me understand your comment [Check for ReinvestDividend to account for "Average Cost". ] How does one check for ReinvestDividend for average cost? Thanks in advance. I don't know about the problem with the "Average Cost". Maybe there> accurate: It is adding about 10% to the correct figure. I recommend that you configure to not use the "%Gain" column.> US$; When I insert any new transaction (buy A Stock) it displays an exchange > dialog box for conversion of £ into $; I ignored this for all these months > and have not problem untill some days ago. > I used the Delux Portfolio it for several years without problems and I > re-installed the latest version after this problem started. > This appears to be the result of the wrong amount displayed in the column > "Avarage Cost" that price have been diminished by about 10% for all the > stocks and for all the portfolios. > The closed positions of the Portfolios are not affected by this new > calculation and are all OK. > If I delete any wrong transaction and re-enter into the Portfolio the > display of the Avarage Cost and % Gain is correct, but this is a long way > and the problem may come back again. There are so many useful columns available in the Portfolio, and for me "%Gain" is not one. The main difference between % Gain and Total Return All (TR all) appears to differ if sales have been made. Both appear to take dividends into account. If showing sold securities, %gain can go negative ... buy at 100, sell at 1, big negative. test buy 100 at $10.00 Sell 99 at $10.10 %gain says 100% TR All says 1% So, to reiterate, get rid of %gain and use the TR columns. Check for ReinvestDividend to account for "Average Cost". - quote - > Does anyone experiance something so devastating and have any suggestion?

| Hi, have a problem with the DeLux Portfolio: Since some days, from September 2008 the calculation in the Gain/Loss is not accurate: It is adding about 10% to the correct figure. No settings where changed!!! I am using Win Vista Business since a year and everything was OK untill some days ago. In the "Performance View" of the Portfolio, the columns "% Gain" and "Avarage Cost" are not displaying the correct figures. This affects the whole portfolios values and Gain/Loss calculations rendering the complete software useless. I have US stocks in the Portfolios ans the Portfolios are denominated in US$; When I insert any new transaction (buy A Stock) it displays an exchange dialog box for conversion of £ into $; I ignored this for all these months and have not problem untill some days ago. I used the Delux Portfolio it for several years without problems and I re-installed the latest version after this problem started. This appears to be the result of the wrong amount displayed in the column "Avarage Cost" that price have been diminished by about 10% for all the stocks and for all the portfolios. The closed positions of the Portfolios are not affected by this new calculation and are all OK. If I delete any wrong transaction and re-enter into the Portfolio the display of the Avarage Cost and % Gain is correct, but this is a long way and the problem may come back again. Does anyone experiance something so devastating and have any suggestion? Thanks to all. Fulvio |
