That is a good idea, although I would recommend you called them instead at
their phone number.
I recomend this because they may have to reset the registry permissions to
be able to install the program on your Vista machine. Here is their number
incase you call Microsoft Money tech support 1-866-834-8741, so you can get
the program installed as soon as possible.

Thanks for the suggestion. I reset the security settings per the Vista
instructions, but still get the same error message when I try to reinstall
Money. I opened an e-mail support incident with MS, and guess I'll have to
wait until Monday for further replies from MS support.

In order for you to be able to install money program there is a security
setting that is blocking the installation for the money program. so what you
need to do is reset the security settings with these steps pulled from

www.support.microsoft.com/kb/313222

Sample command to reset security settings
Note After security settings are applied, you cannot undo the changes
without restoring from a backup. If you are uncertain about resetting your
security settings back to the default security settings, you must make a
complete backup that includes the "System State" (the registry files). Items
that are reset include NTFS file system files and folders, the registry,
policies, services, privilege rights, and group membership.

To reset your operating system back to original installation default
security settings:

1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.

2.For Windows Vista, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

You receive a "Task is completed" message, and a warning message that
something could not be done. You can safely ignore this message. For more
information about this message, view the %windir%\Security\Logs\Scesrv.log
file.

After that has been done please try installing the money program

If you don't have IE 8 beta installed, I would use the information
in your confirmation email to get installation support.

Did you right-click the install file and choose RunAsAdministrator?

Consider booting into safe mode and install from there. Let us know
that happens.

Default Setup unable to install some components--on a Vista machine

I am running Vista Home Premium with SP1 installed. When I try to install
Money Plus Deluxe, I get the dreaded "Setup is unable to install some
components. Try reinstalling Money." I've read all of the threads I can
find about this error message, but all seem to deal with XP, not Vista. I've
tried everything I can find on the newsgroups, etc., to no avail. Has anyone
running Vista had this problem and if so, pleas help!!!!!!
