I have the exact same problem. I'll try the registry changes talked about in
the note.

The link below seems to solve the problem. After spending about an hour and
a half on Ignore, or rather, Hold, with Microsoft, the technician downloaded
a couple files to my computer and reset the registry security. I'm running
XP Home Edition. I believe he basically did the same steps as in this
article: http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/483.aspx

The install went fine afterwards.

Today's repsonse from MS: I have escalated your case because of your Windows
XP and you should hear from an Escalation agent within the next 72 hours.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this case reply to this
email.

The Escalation agent that will be assigned to your case will receive this
e-mail and should respond as soon as possible.

I have the exact same issues--the article below will only work if you have XP
professional--if you have XP home (I do)--you need to contact MS support.
They have sent me an email, but have only asked to verify the OS on my
machine. I will update if I get a solution.

For now, no install and no money 2006 to input data into...(argh)

Default Money Plus Deluxe installation error

I purchased Money Plus Deluxe thru Microsoft Download.
When running the program to install on Windows XP OS, the download says that
it is unable to install some of the components needed to run Microsoft Money.
The installation stops and says to try installing again.

No details?????????
I am running Mcafee Virus and firewall but both were turned off.
There is plenty of memory available
No other programs are running

What could cause this error?
