Default RE: Citi cards won't dl correctly since mid-July

I don't know what changed but my updating has been working fine for about a
month. I did nothing to "correct" the problem but it now works consistently.
Therefore, I am assuming the problem was at Citicard side.

Finally started working but had to export txns, delete account, create a new
account, import txns. Nobody seems to know why.

then 2 weeks later, it did not update my gasoline purchases for 7 days.
Citibank said it affected only certain Citicards, Exxon Mobil was one of
them. Not sure what the others were but you should call the number on the
back of creditcard and ask for 'online support'. Some of their techs seem to
understand the issue.

Cal,

I tried doing the clean boot. When I did it I got an error message which
said I needed to sign on as an administrator. Never the less it looked like
all the clean boot settings worked. After the reboot, Money update worked
fine. I then reset all my msconfig settings to normal and rebooted, again
Money update worked FINE. I don't think I mentioned it previously but when
the Citicard was failing in update Schwab, Vanguard and Wachovia all updated
fine.

So while it is working now, I really don't have any confidence that it is
fixed since it has worked like this before.

You could try the clean boot techniques:

Cal,

Before I was able to read your latest suggestion about a new user, I reset
IE7 as you suggested inthe prior note. After the reset I closed IE7 a nd
then tried using Money online download and had the same problem.

Do you have suggestions at this point?

Consider creating a new XP user.
Start-> Settings-> ControlPanel-> UserAccounts-> CreateANewAccount
Switch to that user and start Money with a new blank file (Decline
Passport/LiveID). Set up Money download the Citicard as that user.
Does that succeed?

The theory is that if the problem is an IE setting, you will get
default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it
would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason
the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and
your regular IE settings will not have been changed.

It would have fixed bad caching in your local DNS server, but it
would not have fixed other problems.

Cal,

I turned the power off on my router and my dsl modem and then turned the
power back on the DSL modem then turned power back on router. I assume that
resets them. If that is correctr, it did not fix the issue with Money.

That seems to be a DNS problem error.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/193625/en-us

I had been thinking I was seeing slow or bad DNS earlier today. I
reset my router.

Also consider any software firewall you have in place. However I
would have thought that the HTTPS address you tried earlier would
have shown up such a problem.

You could also consider resetting IE 7 as discussed here:

http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/06/12/628499.aspx

It seems a bit drastic.

I just tried doing an online update and it failed. I tried a second time and
it also failed. The message I get says "Money was unable to contact the
Internet, banking, or brokerage server because the server name was not
recognized. Click Connection Settings in the Tools menu and verify that your
Internet settings are configured correctly. (OFXIE12007)

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Cal,

I don't understand how that could be checking my password since it never
asked me any information. Tha being said I went into Money and manually
entered all the information and for the moment at least it is all working.
Thanks for the help.

Normal result for a non-normal test. If you clicked for more info,
or even just searched that page, you would see that it was the
expected HTTP 403 error.

No, it doesn't. That was just to test connectivity and a few other
things. It does not explain your problem, which appears to be a
password problem.

Check your sign in info. Maybe its case-sensitive. I don't know.

Cal,

I do not know what it means but when I clicked on the link you provided I
got "The website declined to show this webpage".

I assume that means that some setting in IE7 needs to change but since I do
not know what I changed before I do not know what needs to be changed. I
obviously would appreciate your help.

I have had to re-do UpdateNow a couple of times recently, but I am
not getting the kind of problem that you are.

See if you get a response (HTTP error 403 would be normal) from
https://secureofx2.bankhost.com/ on IE. This would be to check
settings etc on your computer.

I have a Citicard credit card (not ExxonMobil) and have had it set for direct
download for at least a year and probably longer and it has been working
fine. In the last couple of weeks it has only worked a couple of times but
in general fails. I therefore went into manage online services and stopped
the download. I then went back into manage online services and tried to set
up the online download. After putting in my user ID and password, Money Plus
H&B give me a message that I have not account with Citi. I can still get to
the Citi web site and sign in with no problem.

Anyone else have have any problems or solutions with CitiCard?

I have a Citicard that says Citi on it, and it works great. It was
not fully clear whether, when you referred to the Exxon credit card
and the Citicard, you were talking of one card or two. Looking at
http://www.microsoft.com/money/banko...ovidersOnly#27
I see that Exxon is a different deal -- its data goes thru a third
party. If you are having trouble with that, and you use Money 2007
or Money Plus, you can contact Microsoft Money support.

Mr MVP - please confirm your info because I used to have Citicard setup for
direct connect but it stopped working mid-July. Do you folks check with the
FI for testing when they have a redesign of their site?

If you are using Money 2007 or Money Plus, you can set up CitiCard
for direct access instead of using the website to download that
statement. It does not require a LiveID on the file for that. I
don't know if that applies to the Exxon Mobil card tho.

Make an extra backup/copy of your file in case you want to undo
something.

Default Citi cards won't dl correctly since mid-July

direct connect stopped working, manual download reverses the CR /DB
Tech Support for Citi card 'Exxon Mobil MC' said they were aware of an issue
and were working on fixing it by end of August.
Instead of pulling the icons to select MS Money or QIF, they are allowing
you to try but it will screw up your mny files.
Cannot believe that one of the largest banks did not TEST their new software
changes. Web Site obviously has been changed because the colors are
different...not sure I was on actual site or if I got hijacked but YES it was
still Citibank!!!! OMG
