It will continue to work, except that it will stop fetching quotes
and it will not import statements after the expiration date. It will
continue to be able to have prices and transactions entered by
keyboard. It will produce QIF files for export, and will import them
as new or recovered accounts. Expect to pay again at that time to
restore price and statement downloads.

There is an "online services policy" that says that they will stop "online
services" (quotes and direct downloads from FIs and/or the third party
services) two years from activation or January 31, 2011, whichever comes
first. (See the buttons in Help|About.) Note that M+ added some words that
hint at a possible "fee for service" extension model where they would,
presumably, have a subscription service to extend this. They haven't
announced such a thing yet, though.

This is separate from their plans for updates and support and things like
updating the tax estimator coefficients and so on. They haven't made their
intentions in these regards clear to users near as I can tell.

What do you meanby this? Will the Money stop working after two years?

No need for me to burn a disk, I purchased a boxed version.

Thanks

On all installations I download them, get the email message to a file that
provides the activation key and any other details. I then cut a CD with all
of the above and perform the installation from the CD. CD is then stored in
my firesafe. The directory used to cut all the information is stored on my
machine with the directory included in both the local and web backups.

Thus I agree with you. Burn a CD/DVD of the file and the activation code
and prove it is good by using it for the install.

..... except that there is a 2-year online statement and quite period
that starts when you install and activate the real thing. So using
your evaluation period will delay the expiration.

Also, don't forget to keep a copy of your install file when you
download. Burn it to CD/DVD.

Thanks for the feedback. My local WalMart still had some copies and I
decided to purchase because I heard MS was pulling them off, I also thought
the price 26.95 was a bargain.

Best Regards,

Frank

Default RE: Should I buy Money Plus Deluxe now?

I think most of us are just carrying on hoping for the best in the future
despite no positive signs that this hope will be warranted.

They haven't killed it yet.

They haven't announced an intention to kill it yet.

It works.

There is no better alternative.

Many of us have fifteen years worth of data in the thing.

I have developed some tools to extract data and make my own work-alike
database--but no UI for maintenance--in Access. This is just proof-of-concept
as a way to retain my own legacy data. Unfortunately, there is still LOTS of
data that is write-only in Money. IF they actually continue down the apparent
"exit strategy" route, it would seem reasonable for them to offer a final set
of tools like they never have offered before to get at ALL of the data in a
Money file. I'm not holding my breath, though.

If youa re not on M+D, I'd suggest getting there. See
http://umpmfaq.info/MoneyPlus.htm. It's not all that expensive. And any
support/ongoing subscription/exit ramp software, if any, that ever comes out
will surely ONLY target M+.

If you like the trial then you might as well by it now. Many people were
simply picking up the trial to wait and see if a new version was coming out
and then skipping Money Plus to go to the new version. A new version will
not come out this year. So your choice is now between your old version,
Money Plus or something from another vendor.

Default Should I buy Money Plus Deluxe now?

Hello,

Just started using the trial and wonder if MS decision will affect future
releases or bug fixes. What are most people doing now?

Thanks
