Further to Dick's post, Money Essentials is aimed at someone who is just
starting out on keeping track of their finances and as such won't read a
previous Money file. Also it is a very cut down version with out many
features.

There are restrictions where you can keep your Money data files in Vista.
They must be in the Documents folder or a sub-folder.

To move from your old PC just copy the .mny file and some .mbf backups to
the Vista Documents folder and install the new version of Money. If you find
you need to do an update in Vista, right click on the Monet Desktop icon and
Runasadminstrator.

Get Money Plus Deluxe or higher because what you observe is absolutely true.

I have Money 2002 and need to upgrade and keep my backup files. My old
machine is XP; my new one is Vista. Any suggestions? Money Essentials
doesn't recognize the old files.
