Try opening the file by right-clicking the *.mny file and choose> currently. Still asking for a password when opening his money file. Both the > old and new PC are running Vista Home Prem w/ SP1. If no joy, check to see if the two machines agree when you do Help-> About. See if there is a License Terms (US/Canada) or Licence terms button. |

| The update patch was downloaded and installed, the Version is 14.0.120.1105 currently. Still asking for a password when opening his money file. Both the old and new PC are running Vista Home Prem w/ SP1. There is no difference between the two PCs that I can see other than the hardware. All the same installation CDs were used. This is very frustrating as you can imagine. "Bob Peel, MVP" wrote: - quote - > When you reinstall M2005 you have to download a sizeable patch. | When you reinstall M2005 you have to download a sizeable patch. The message he is seeing says that he hasn't done this. Check the serial number in Help > About. It should read 14.0.*.1105. If it doesn't then the missing patch is definitely the answer. Best way to cause the patch to download is to navigate to the directory where the sample.mny file lives, double click on the file name and M2005 will start. This should then go online and get the patch. Check the serial number after the download to end in 1105. BTW XP or Vista on the new PC? -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For unofficial FAQs see http://money.mvps.org/ or http://umpmfaq.info/ I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. The one that the Money Plus trial created would identify which version was actually brought to the new computer. *.m17 2008 plus *.m16 2007 *.m15 2006 *.m14 2005 It would be the case that he had converted to a North American version at some point. Money Plus is not sold in Oz, but some have reported that with the downloaded software ..... On the other hand, some have indicated that a particular credit card did not work for the purpose. |

| My client has recently bought a new computer, after installing Money on the new one, when trying to open his mny file it asks for a password which there is none. I have recently discovered that using the latest trial version from MS website works fine. Other people have said that at some point my client must have updated and does not remember it, which is probably true. Here is the problem, he is running Money 2005, the latest version available here in Australia is Money 2005, apparently they stopped production here. I have started Money using the sample file and updated the software online, if I try to open his money file it still asks for a password. Is there anyway around this, as all recent versions of money I have found are for other countries... |
