XP or Vista? If Vista, make sure the Money file is NOT in
ProgramFiles. Documents is a good place. Then right-click the Money
start icon and choose RunAsAdministrator once.

Thanks - seems to have done the trick. I actually set up a 'Dummy' fund in
the same account and then renamed it to something similar to, but not the
same as, the problem investment.

I am also having issues with downloading my credit card transactions. Just
upgraded from Money 2006 to Money Plus and set up all the online accesses /
passwords for each credit card account. Worked fine the first time, but not
thereafter. I'll file this as a separate post as, again, it looks like other
upgraders are having this problem too.

Thanks,

WillC.

Try setting up a fake buy of new investment with Country: Great
Britain. For now, leave the symbol blank. I would Buy it into a USD
watch (pretend) account. I did that as a test. Enter the price in
USD in the transaction.

Thanks, Cal Learner.

Still seeing a $ sign, even after I adjust the currency and the
Country/Region to British Pounds and Great Britain respectively.

And the Cost Basis is completely wrong. This can't be that difficult to get
right - is it something I am doing wrong or a Money issue (I noticed some
other posts on incorrect Cost Basis in Money for stocks and other assets
quoted in Pounds Sterling).

Thanks again for your help.

If you right-click the investment and go to the Details, isn't there
a Country/Region selection?

Where is that setting to set the currency for the investment to
British Pounds? I think you mean for the account, as you originally
posted.

I am thinking that in a USD account, you can Buy an investment with
country=GB. Then the quotes will be in GBP.

================== Basic Money Glossary (prototype)=============

Account

A collective place to place transactions, investments, cash, and
debt. An investment account would normally hold stocks, bonds,
and/or mutual funds. There are also bank, credit, and asset
accounts. Money Help item "account" gives a description.

Category

The Money help item "category" says "A way to sort your income and
expenses into meaningful groups so you can see income and spending
patterns in Money reports." That seems like a good description.

Favorite Account

An attribute of an account to give it easier access. See help item
"favorite".

Financial Institution (FI)

A company such as a bank, credit card company, loan company, credit
union, which takes funds from the public and deals with
financial assets.

Investment

A security such as stock, bond, or mutual fund. See Help item
"investment". Investment Buys and Sells are entered into an
investment (type) account, but an account is not an investment.
Normally when your broker assigns different account numbers, each
account number would correspond to an account. Each account can
contain many different types of investments.

Money File

The file that normally has the extension .mny. It contains the
data for money as well as most of the settings. It can be moved,
deleted, or copied by normal operating system means. See Help item
"file".

The Money file can be backed up to a Money backup file with a .mbf
extension. Give careful thought to your backup policy.

Watch Account

An account that is not real, but is for the purpose of watching
securities that you may not actually own. See help item "watch".

Money Market Fund

An investment held in an investment account that is a special kind
of mutual fund: the share price is fixed at $1 usually, and Money
does not put the sell transactions into the schedule D (capital
gains) information. Called "money market" in Money. Sometimes
referred to as MM or MMF.

Bank Money Market

A checking account from a bank that usually has some extra
restrictions and higher interest.

Thanks. I don't see anywhere to set the country to Great Britain (the fund is
not quoted, at least not anywhere that I can locate it on MSN), but I have
set the currency for the investment to British Pounds. Shouldn't that do the
trick?

Happy to set the investment up under a different name if this will solve the
below.

If you go to the Details for the *Investment*, is the Country set to
Great Britain?

Default Non-USD Investments in Money Plus 2008

Hello,
I have created an Investment account in Money Plus for two non-quoted funds,
both of which are in GBP (British Pounds Sterling). I have set up Money to
view all my accounts (checking, savings, investment) in USD, regardless of
the base currency of the account.
Money lets me add both fund investments to this account in their base
currency. However, when I come to manually update the price of the second
investment added, Money will only let me do so in USD, not in GBP (the update
price for the first fund is in GBP).
Is there a way to correct this? I have tried adding the investment under a
different name, but with no success.
Thanks,
Will C.
