Essentials won't convert anything, not even older Money files. I
wouldn't waste time with it. Download the Deluxe version.

To follow up on Cal's comment: If you decide to purchase Money, it seems
that you can use any US address (including 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.,
Washington DC--the address of the White House). I don't think that anyone
has had a problem using a Canadian credit card, but if one of yours does not
work, just try another. Also note that the tax reports (and exportable tax
information) is based on US tax laws, so those features will be unusable to
you.

Yes, but they are not sold in Canada, oddly enough. Even for
download, it requires a US address.

If you download the Deluxe trial, there will be warnings to that
effect that you can read.

I am in Canada and it appears the only version available is Essentials.
Do the versions on the Us web site work in Canada?

Sorry about that, T. I didn't notice you mentioned Essentials.

If you use Quicken, you do not want Money Essentials. It is basically a
useless program that has almost no flexibility. And it probably cannot
convert your Quicken file (it can't even convert MS Money files from
previous years). If you want to switch to MS Money, you have to buy (or get
the trial of) Money Plus Deluxe which can convert your Quicken file.

Default Convery quicken files

I just downloaded the trial version of the new Microsoft Essentials and I
wanted to try converting my Quicken files, however I don't see an option to
do that.
