I prefer the former, but there is no one right answer. The dedicated escrow
account more accurately reflects the timing and money flow.

Default dealing with mortgage escrow

Is it better to setup an Escrow account, and do all the transactions from
that account (Insurance, Taxes, etc). Or can I just use my mortgage
transaction each month out of my checking to my Mortgage to categorize where
the money goes?
