| Cal, I wanted to reply and close the circle here at least a bit <G> . I copied the sample data over as you suggested and was able to access it without an issue - problem is the sample data does not include any "live" dataq requiring Internet access. I opend my data file using the check box at the log on to prevent connecting to the Internet - this resulted in my getting a more stable interaction with my data but the Portfolio Manager view was blank with no selections in the left pane. This to is a findable occurence in the knowledge base but I was unable to use any of the information successfully (I did a repair, added some trusted zones, did a full uninstall and clean re-install with OneCare stopped etc...) I finally accepted defeat and call Microsoft support. I was referred to artilce 836197 and then to method 3, item 3 which is basically the installation of MSXML 4.0 SP2 - item 3 has a link to the page "MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (Microsoft XML Core Services)". I downloaded the SP - installed it - fired up Money and went straight to the Portfolio Manager page which was now fuly populated and looked just as I would have expected it to look. I banged around for about 30 minutes without a problem. So - short answer - install MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 even though the page does not list Vista as one of the supported operating systems (specifically for the record I am running Vista 63 Home Premium). I hope this information helps someone else. David Focht (NTSlacker) "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, NTSlacker wrote: > > I am experiencing the identical problem. When you copied Sample.mny from your Money install folder to Documents, and then tried to open that file by right-clicking in Windows Explorer, and choosing Open. Did you get that crash? If so, I would contact Microsoft Money Support. - quote - > Help! <G> "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Jim510731 wrote: > > > > Whenever I try to open Microsoft Money Plus, I receive the message "Microsoft > > > Money has stopped running" and the program immediately crashes. | I am experiencing the identical problem. New Vitsa 64 bit machine - new download of Money Plus Deluxe. Installed fine - copied over MNY file from my 2006 version on the old machine - said it was converting - everything looked fine - then it just crashes with the same dump identified here. I then tried running it with a new money file - same thing happens. Very frustrating - I have used Money for almost 5 years - I really don't want to change but I need this working - not crashing. I tried the run as admin suggestion - same thing. I had the same thing ahppen a time or two with the old 2006 version - but it seemed assciated with a certain sequence of menu selections on how I would go to my portfolio - I changed the sequence and it stopped happening. I *think* it seems to be associated when Money goes "online". Open Money Plus in Vista by right clicking the launch icon and> not have this problem with Money 2007. choosing RunAsAdministrator. See if you can run your file then. ave you changed your regional settings (new country) since you created your file? Did your regular file ever work in Money Plus previously? If not, copy your *.m16 file to test.mny and open that (File-> Open) with Money having been opened by right clicking the launch icon and choosing RunAsAdministrator. Did you try a restore? If you do that, don't restore to the "default location". Instead Browse to your Documents/MyDocuments folder. - quote - > > > Copy Sample.mny from your Money install folder to Documents.
